Youth

The Youth Ministry Program at Haller Lake UMC seeks to give teenagers opportunities for spiritual growth and leadership that they may become healthy, grounded adults capable of traveling the human journey in relationship with God.

We offer youth fellowship for grades 6-12, meeting with youth from Wallingford UMC and Sand Point UMC. During the school year, we meet weekly on Sunday evenings 5-7 PM, rotating monthly between the three churches as our meeting site. Our focus is on developing spiritual tools such as prayer, Bible study, and journaling; planning and carrying out mission and service projects both locally and far away; and fellowship activities for fun and community building.

In addition to regular meetings, the youth plan weekend fun activities such as "Lock-ins"--overnights at the church--fun outings, hikes, and visits to places that enrich our spiritual growth, such as an outdoor Labyrinth in Bellevue. In the summer of 2009, the youth went to Children's Country Home in Woodinville to work with medically fragile children, providing socialization and recreation. In the summer of 2008, the combined youth went to Chehalis to help the program "Volunteers in Mission". The youth group helped a family by painting the inside of the house, doing lattice work, and building part of a deck. In the summer of 2006, our High School Youth Group traveled to Laurel Mississippi to help after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. In the summer of 2004, our High School Youth Group traveled to Mabton, Washington to participate in painting the Mabton United Methodist Church building and getting acquainted with people of cultures different from our own.

Call the church office at 206-362-5383 for the meeting schedule.

For information regarding activities for each month, please contact our Youth Ministries Coordinator, Jenny Partch, at the church office, 206-362-5383.

We saw the devastation of New Orleans area first hand as we drove down I-10. There are blocks and blocks of destroyed houses and businesses.
