Music Ministries
Music Ministry at Haller Lake United Methodist Church strives to involve all church members in making music as an act of praise to God. There are opportunities to sing in the Chancel Choir, to provide special music for worship either singing or playing an instrument, to play an instrument in our wind and brass ensemble, to lead congregational singing, or to sing and play in our children's music ensemble.
Chancel Choir
All adults and high school students are welcome to join the Chancel Choir, which practices on Thursday evenings at 7:15 p.m. and sings at the Sunday worship service three times a month, September through June. There is no pre-requisite for singing in our choir. We encourage anyone who enjoys singing, whether you read music or not, to join us. The experience of singing is as important as the finished piece we present at a worship service.
Special Music (solo, duet, group)
Those providing special music coordinate dates with the Music Director and sing or play at our summer Sunday service, or (from September through June) both or either Sunday worship service.
Instrumental Music
The Brass and Wind Ensemble plays for special occasions such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, as well as at seasonal concerts. Practices are arranged prior to a performance. Contact the Music Director if you play an instrument and would like to participate in this ensemble.
Children's Music
Children in preschool learn songs at Sunday School each week with the Music Director. The children are exposed to instrumental music and play percussion instruments as they sing.
For over twenty years the Haller Lake Music Series has presented concerts featuring Northwest musicians. The concert series gives musicians the opportunity to perform in a setting with excellent acoustics and provides people with quality musical programs, adding to the community's cultural enrichment. It is a non-profit, self-supporting organization of the church, relying on its loyal audience and generous financial support. Tickets are not sold but a free-will offering is taken. Concerts are held at 7:30 pm on the third Friday of October, November, and January through May. A reception follows each performance, giving the audience the opportunity to meet the artists.
